Accommodation

The best option for staying close to the hospital

Keeping families together

Going to a hospital far from home can be a frightening experience for a child, so it is important they have their families close by for love and comfort. We provide free ‘home away from home’ accommodation and support for families with children at Evelina London Children’s Hospital, part of Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust.

Ronald McDonald House Evelina London

We have 59 en suite bedrooms and communal living areas such as kitchens, playrooms, lounges and laundry facilities. Families can stay at the House free of charge for as long as their child is being treated as an in-patient at the hospital. Each room is equipped with a telephone so parents and carers will be able to contact their child’s ward directly. Having a sick child affects the whole family; our Houses enable families to retain a sense of normal life during an incredibly stressful time and offer support and a safe environment where they can share their experiences with others families in similar situations.

If a family would like a room at the House they must be referred by the ward, this will ensure that all referrals for accommodation are dealt with promptly and fairly. A member of hospital staff should call the House directly and we will complete an Accommodation Request Form.

Use of the Day Room for non-residents

Ronald McDonald House Evelina London can also offer non-residents the use of the day facilities between the hours of 8:00 am – 9:00 pm daily. Within the day room itself there is a kitchen, dining area, lounge and children’s play area. There are also shower facilities available to use and a laundry room.
